The Open Alumni Toastmasters Club
Who We Are
The Open Alumni Toastmasters Club is an English toastmasters club chartered on 1 January 1998 in District 80 (i.e. Singapore), Division N, Area N3. Our Club number is 00007498. We are one of the many Toastmasters Clubs under Toastmasters International, a non-profit educational organisation that helps our members to develop their public speaking as well as their leadership skills.
We hold our monthly chapter meeting every 3rd Thursday of the month at Buona Vista Community Club from 1930 hr to 2130 hr. Beginning as of 1 July 2018, we have been holding combined meetings every month with Telok Blangah Toastmasters Club.
The Open Alumni Toastmasters Club would like to congratulate Elaine Tan Lixin in achieving the status of Distinguished Toastmaster!
Our History
The Open Alumni Toastmasters Club was sponsored by the SIM 1 Toastmasters Club where SIM stands for Singapore Institute of Management.
Patrick Chang and Ong Wee Heng were the Chartered Members and Khor Chee Kok was the Chartered President.
Originally the club was named Ngee Ann Alumni Toastmasters Club.
Being unable to secure a regular meeting place for the club’s chapter meeting at Ngee Ann Polytechnic, our club left Ngee Ann Polytechnic and was renamed Alumni Toastmasters Club.
Our chapter meetings were held at International Plaza for a short period of time before relocating to Market Street and remained there for many years until we finally moved to our current venue at Buona Vista Community Club. Upon leaving Ngee Ann Polytechnic, alumni from Ngee Ann Polytechnic have ceased to join our club.
Our memberships were then opened to members of the public. Subsequently our club changed its name to The Open Alumni Toastmasters Club.
